Oh crushing sorrow
Companion of my lifetime
Sister died Sunday
I failed to protect
My baby sister, Mommy
I deserve this grief
Trials of old age
Must now be faced on my own
Us torn asunder
Without her to share
Memories of our youth will
Slowly slip away
If only she'd called
If only she'd heard me say
Let people help you
Judy, I knew Jean when we were students at Cal Poly. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a lovely person. She was such a wonderful artist.
ReplyDeleteI recently retired from the CSU, too.
Are you someone I know? How did you kbnow this was about Jean? Thanks for the sympathy and positive remarks about her.
DeleteFor some reason late one night I thought about her. It woke me up, so I googled her name. She and I worked on Opus magazine at Cal Poly. I taught in the public school system and CSU for many years. My husband, Donald Castro, was at CSUDH in Admin. He passed away in 2007 and I miss him as you miss Jean.
DeleteI must also mention that I remember a particular piece Jean did. It was during the Vietnam Nam war. It was very powerful.
DeleteIt just puzzles me that I woke up with a clear thought of her after not thinking about her since those many years ago.
